BENTONVILLE -- Bonnie Adams will run for the Ward 1, Position 1 seat on the Bentonville City Council.

The seat is held by Tim Robinson, who has announced for reelection. Jeremy D. Wiginton also filed for the seat. The filing period ended Wednesday. The nonpartisan election is Nov. 3.

Ward 1 covers the northeast part of the city.

"Growing up in Bentonville, seeing this town's growth, leadership and commitment to community, I learned firsthand how important it is to give back to the community," Adams said in a news release. "Living in other states has given me insight into how other areas are thriving. It has also allowed me to see what comes with a lack of intentional planning and unbridled growth."

Adams, 43, is founder and CEO of The Joys of Swimming. She wants to promote responsible development and infrastructure, support the city's employees and balance the opportunities of urban amenities with the character and integrity of the town, according to the release.

Adams has a bachelor of arts in interdisciplinary natural science with a concentration of biology from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.

Council members are paid $808 per month, according to the city website. The City Council has eight members, two each in four wards. Position 1 on the council will be two-year terms.
