Clinton Center exhibit offers homemade arts, crafts, instruments

The Clinton Presidential Center and the Arkansas Arts Center combined forces Jan. 23 to host "B.C.'s Juke Joint Night," celebrating the library's newest temporary exhibit, "The Mighty Mississippi: HeART and Soul of the Southern Delta."

The invitation-only event included a sneak peek at the first-floor exhibit. Next, guests made their way to the second floor to sample Southern Delta-inspired treats prepared by the Clinton Center's restaurant 42 bar and table. Finally, guests enjoyed a concert by Mississippi bluesman James "Super Chikan" Johnson.

The exhibit features cultural elements -- from folk art to musical instruments -- that originated in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. The centerpiece is a walk-in juke joint, "B.C.'s Blues Shack," where visitors can enjoy the sounds of the Delta Blues.
