Mayor to speak at 2nd unity program

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. will host the city's second annual "unity program" to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend today.

The mayor will give remarks, and Pulaski Circuit and County Clerk Terri Hollingsworth and former state Sen. Bill Walker will serve as emcees. Charlie E. Dates, senior pastor of Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago, is the keynote speaker.

The program is set to take place at 3 p.m. at Saint Mark Baptist Church, 5722 W. 12th St. The public is invited to attend.

Cooper Orbit Road lane set to close

A lane closure is planned starting Monday for Cooper Orbit Road, according to a Little Rock news release.

For about 60 days, subject to the weather, construction crews will replace culverts in the Spring Valley area on Cooper Orbit Road between Manor Drive and Secluded Circle.

One lane of Cooper Orbit Road will be open in the work zone, and a temporary traffic signal will be installed to control traffic.
