Feeding the feeders

Grocery workers are keeping an entire nation fed during a pandemic, bless ‘em. The nation is grateful, and nourished. But it’s also important to remember food and medicine don’t just appear in grocery stores overnight.

Truckers have been called the lifeblood of this nation, because when they don’t move, nothing else happens. Those 18-wheelers bring food to the grocery stores and restaurants feeding the rest of us. Jimmy Hoffa was right: Everything you buy, is brought with a truck.

But the feeders also have to be fed, and unfortunately, some truck stops and restaurants have closed their doors during this pandemic.

But a tractor-trailer can’t fit in the drive-through line. (You’ll notice our command of physics.) Fortunately, a familiar name in fast food is stepping up with its own solution. As Fox Business put it: “This week, McDonald’s announced curbside service offerings for drivers, who have had trouble getting access to food on the road as states require businesses to curtail operations or shut down entirely. Drivers can download the McDonald’s app and select curbside service and walk up to the designated curbside area where a worker will bring their orders to the door when they are ready.”

When it comes to feeding truckers, Ronald ain’t clowning around.
