In 1993, a study was published showing that wooden cutting boards had antibacterial qualities that caused them to be safer than plastic. An Australian company that makes handsome cutting boards from sustainable camphor laurel trees is hailing its product's antibacterial quality, which it says was confirmed by the Australian National Association of Testing Authorities.
