7A GAME OF THE WEEK

No. 8 Har-Ber at NO. 2 BENTONVILLE (13): Undefeated Bentonville plays host to its first game of 2020 looking like the best in the West with wins at Conway (47-21), Kansas City Rockhurst (21-17) and defending Kansas state champion Mill Valley (35-28). The Tigers enter league play injury-free and brimming with confidence. Har-Ber, considered one of Bentonville's top challengers before the season began, lost its three non-conference games by a combined 105-43, including a 33-0 gutting at Class 6A Greenwood. Har-Ber rushes for 161 yards and passes for 162 yards weekly, completing just 48 percent of its passes for two TDs and eight interceptions. Har-Ber's offensive line plays well and its linebackers are solid.

7A CENTRAL

FS Northside at BRYANT (21): Bryant outlasted Trinity Christian, Texas 44-40 last Friday. Northside held off Moore, Okla. 28-21.

LR Catholic at CABOT (3): Undefeated Cabot outscores opponents 37.3 to 24.3 weekly. LR Catholic coming off big win at Class 6A power Benton (35-28). The Rockets lost Week 0 at Jonesboro 28-24 and a week later Cabot drove 80 yards in the final minutes to win at Jonesboro 36-32. LR Southwest, reacting to a virus, has canceled its game next Friday with Cabot.

LR Central at NORTH LR (9): Undefeated North LR mercy-ruled West Memphis 35-0 last Friday while LR Central had the week off, recovering from a 35-14 whopping from Bentonville West. LR Central's lone non-conference win came Week 1 against hapless LR Hall.

Conway at LR Southwest: Canceled

7A WEST

Heritage at SPRINGDALE (8): The loser of this matchup most likely misses the playoffs. Heritage lost its season opener at Class 5A Farmington 24-6. Two weeks later Springdale lost at Farmington 14-7.

Bentonville West at Fayetteville, and Fort Smith Southside at Rogers High games are canceled. Southside is taking on Texarkana.

BENTON (8) at Russellville: Benton has won three straight in this series, including 36-31 a year ago. Russellville has lost two straight games by a combined nine points following a 28-23 defeat last week at Class 5A Vilonia. Russellville rolled up 312 yards at Vilonia but trailed 28-13 at halftime. Senior QB Brayden Whitford completed 16 of 28 passes for 202 yards and two TDs at Vilonia. The Cyclones rushed for a season-high 110 yards (first time to rush for positive yardage this season). Benton trailed Little Rock Catholic 35-21 in the fourth quarter last week in a seven-point loss. The Panthers out-gained the Rockets 421-407, but Benton rushed for just 69 yards on 22 carries (3.1 yards per carry). Benton senior QB Garrett Brown completed 27 of 51 passes for 352 yards and two TDs. Opponents outscore Benton 36-16 in the second quarter this season.

VAN BUREN (2) at Siloam Springs: Each team was idle last week after starting 2-1. Siloam Springs out-gained Class 5A Harrison 414-300 two weeks ago in a 34-14 victory. Siloam senior Elijah Coffey snagged five passes against Harrison for 92 yards and intercepted a pass in the end zone in the third quarter. Van Buren lost 28-10 two weeks ago at Choctaw, Oklahoma, the school's first win over an Arkansas program. Choctaw racked up 348 yards against Van Buren. Van Buren played at Choctaw without senior QB Gary Phillips, who could return this week. Junior safety Connor Brady, Van Buren's backup QB, suffered a season-ending injury Week 0 against Class 7A Springdale, which forced senior receiver/cornerback Jaiden Henry to start at QB at Choctaw. All-league tackle Doug Giron returns to the lineup this week for Van Buren.

Little Rock Parkview vs. Greenwood is canceled due to covid-19. Greenwood is hosting Bentonville West.

Pea Ridge at ALMA (2): Alma rallied past Class 7A Heritage last week with a late TD in regulation, then Dane Martin kicked the winning 20-yard field goal in overtime. Senior Logan Chronister ran 20 times for 121 yards, and scored the tying TD and two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. Winless Pea Ridge lost its opening two games to Shiloh Christian and Siloam Springs by a combined 102-38. But the Blackhawks almost took out Prairie Grove (35-33 loss) two weeks ago, but failed on a two-point conversion with 1:23 left. Junior Trevor Blair caught four TD passes against Prairie Grove.

VILONIA (8) at Clarksville: Vilonia's two wins are by a combined seven points after the Eagles survived Russellville by five points a week ago. Junior QB Austin Myers threw a TD pass and ran for another. Clarksville senior Miles Castleman returned an interception 65 yards for a TD in last week's 37-14 triumph over Pottsville, the Panthers' first win since Week 6, 2019.

MORRILTON (1) at Greenbrier: Morrilton's two losses this fall were against rival Russellville by five points and at No. 4 Wynne by one point. The Panthers have won two straight over Greenbrier. Senior receiver Reggie Toney caught two second-half TDs two weeks ago against Wynne. Greenbrier lost consecutive games to Batesville and Arkadelphia without four starters, who should return this week. The Panthers put up 363 yards against Arkadelphia.

Berryville at SHILOH CHRISTIAN (35): Shiloh Christian beat Poteau, Okla., two weeks ago but lost to Class 6A Sand Springs, Okla., 27-26 last week. Sophomore QB Eli Wisdom accounted for three TDs, including a 70-yard TD sprint. Winless Berryville has been outscored this fall 114-41. The Bobcats trailed Greenland 28-20 in the third quarter last week but lost by 22 points after surrendering more than 300 yards rushing.

Green Forest at PRAIRIE GROVE (28): Prairie Grove rolled up 475 yards in last week's 35-point win at Stilwell, Okla., including 384 yards rushing, while holding Stilwell to 257 total yards. Green Forest has lost to West Fork, Pottsville and Cedarville this fall by a combined 112-34.

HUNTSVILLE (1) at Gentry: Huntsville has consecutive wins over Clinton and Lincoln, the Eagles first win streak since beating Gentry 35-6 and Berryville 21-14 in the opening two games of 2018. Huntsville yielded just 281 yards and forced three turnovers two weeks ago against Lincoln. Gentry beat Lamar Week 1 by rolling up 257 yards and forcing two turnovers.

Gravette at ELKINS (8): Gravette plays its first in-state team after going 1-2 against Oklahoma schools. Gravette senior QB Cy Hilger has completed 41 of 78 passes this year for 409 yards and two TDs, and he's ran for a pair of TDs. Undefeated Elkins getting big plays from senior QB Kain Johnson. The Elks gave up 172 yards and forced two turnovers Week 2 against Mansfield.

4A-4

POTTSVILLE (1) at Lamar: After starting 2-0, Pottsville has lost consecutive games to Charleston and Clarksville by a combined 58-28. The Apaches outgained Clarksville 328-208 yards, but committed three turnovers. Lamar led Class 2A Carlisle 36-12 at halftime last week before cruising to a 54-18 decision. The Warriors ran for 271 yards, paced for senior Brady James' 154 yards and two TDs.

MENA (2) at Waldron: Mena has won 40 of the past 48 in the series, including 24 straight. But the Bearacts have dropped three straight games this year to Class 3A powers Harding Academy (44-20) and Booneville (43-12) and Class 5A Hot Springs (20-13 in overtime). Bearcat senior Max Montgomery has passed for 848 yards and nine TDs this year, while senior Gaven Hooper has 16 catches for 283 yards and three scores. Undefeated Waldron has beaten Gentry, Mansfield and Atkins by a combined 117-35. Senior Gabino Grano ran for 112 yards and three TDs and the D created five turnovers in last week's 32-6 triumph over Atkins.

Dover is open.

Ozark at Dardanelle game is canceled. Ozark is traveling to Harrison.

Lavaca at CEDARVILLE (21): Lavaca has played just one game this season, a 32-12 loss Week 0 at Paris. Cedarville is 3-0 for the second straight season and has outscored its opposition by a combined 130-32. Cedarville junior running back Darryl Kattich ran for 247 yards and four TDs and caught a 27-yard TD pass two weeks ago in a 52-20 victory over Class 4A Green Forest. Cedarville ran for 418 yards and six TDs against Green Forest.

Charleston at GREENLAND (3): Greenland amassed 489 yards in last week's 50-28 victory at Class 4A Berryville. Greenland senior QB Gabe Wilson passed for 104 yards and a TD while senior tailback Jett Dennis bolted for 259 yards and two scores. Dennis added a 70-yard TD catch. Charleston trailed Class 4A power Ozark 28-7 last week at halftime in a 54-21 defeat in the Franklin County Feud. The Tigers committed two turnovers but were only flagged for one penalty against Ozark.

MANSFIELD (1) at West Fork: West Fork was idle last week after absorbing its first loss Week 2 (20-7 against Paris). West Fork's two wins are its most since earning eight victories in 2015 and matches its total from 2016-2019. Junior QB Eli Howerton smoothly operates West Fork's Flexbone. Mansfield trailed Class 4A Elkins 38-0 two weeks ago en route to a 38-16 defeat. Mansfield managed just 172 yards, including 36 rushing yards at Elkins. Mansfield senior linebacker Randy Claude anchors the Red Tiger defense.

Baptist Prep at ATKINS (14): Atkins beat Baptist Prep the past two seasons by a combined 93-54. Baptist Prep trailed Class 2A Marvell 24-6 last week early in the third quarter before scoring the last 14 points of a 24-20 defeat. Baptist Prep committed three turnovers in the first quarter against Marvell. Atkins absorbed its first loss a week ago (32-6) at Class 4A Waldron. The Red Devils managed 231 yards at Waldron, but committed seven penalties and four turnovers.

BOONEVILLE (35) at Two Rivers: Opponents outscore Two Rivers 151-14 this season during an 0-3 start. Booneville ran for 499 yards in last week's 43-12 win over Class 4A Mena. Senior Ty Goff ran for 216 yards on nine carries with three TDs. Junior QB Randon Ray bolted for 136 yards and two scores.

Danville at PERRYVILLE (10): Danville trailed Class 2A Hector 23-14 early in the fourth quarter last week before losing 35-14. Danville junior QB Lawson Wilkins rushed for 95 yards and a TD and senior Julian Becerra also scored. Perryville recorded 411 yards in last week's 45-18 win at Class 2A Conway Christian. Sophomore QB Tyler Givens completed 16 of 22 passes for 256 yards at Conway Christian. Givens' top target was junior Mason Roland, who caught six passes for 198 yards. Junior Ethan Weaver rushed for 46 yards and three TDs. Senior linebacker Blake Kennedy stacked 11 tackles at Conway Christian while junior Brandon Hoyt added 10.

MAYFLOWER (1) at Paris: Each team was idle a week ago. This is the first of three consecutive road games for Mayflower. Opponents outscore Mayflower 98-35 during its 0-3 start (all against Class 4A teams). Paris is 3-0 for the first time since 2011. The Eagles scored the first 20 points two weeks ago in a 20-7 victory at West Fork. Junior QB Chase Watts (6-0, 150) and senior running back Ely Fore (5-11, 185) spark the Paris offense.

Magazine at BIGELOW (10): Smashmouth showdown in the 4-2A. Upstart Bigelow last seen Week 2 running over Class 3A neighbor rival Perryville 40-8. Junior QB Keithlen Brown and RB Hunter Alexander and senior RB Brayden Jones rushed for a combined 330 yards and six TDs. Junior LB Keenan Hobbs recorded seven tackles, two TFL and a sack. Magazine senior QB Tatum Scott returned last week from a preseason hamstring injury to run 12 times for 77 yards and a TD in a 38-23 win at Cutter Morning Star. Scott should be 100 percent healthy this week behind an improving offensive line. Senior FB/LB Kobe Faughn rushed for 192 yards and two TDs at Cutter.

J.C. Westside at MOUNTAINBURG (25): Mountainburg has played one game this season with (Class 3A) rival Hackett canceling last week (and this week) due to covid quarantines. Westside whipped Class 3A Two Rivers 50-8, lost to Class 3A Paris 62-6 and was open last week.

HECTOR (27) at Yellville-Summit: Hector scored via all three phases last week in a 35-14 win over Class 3A Danville. Senior RB Ty Day ran for a 133 yards and a TD and kicked a 32-yard FG. Senior LB Weston Brown returned a fumble 28 yards for a TD. Senior QB Gunner Garrison completed an efficient three of five passes for 98 yards, and he rushed six times for another 78 yards. Y-S senior LB A.J. Jones leads the Patchers in tackles.

Conway Christian at QUITMAN (8): Conway Christian (0-3) won this matchup 36-30 a year ago when both teams were members of the 5-2A. Quitman junior QB Will Litton completed 15 of 28 passes last week for 178 yards and a TD in a 32-13 loss to Class 3A Mountain View. Litton, who rushed for 131 yards and a score, led Quitman with 19 tackles, while senior LB Jett Silor collected 15 stops.
