Hogs to open with Texas Tech

FAYETTEVILLE -- The University of Arkansas' baseball season opener will be against a familiar opponent from the Big 12, just not the one originally planned.

The Razorbacks are now scheduled to open the season with a game against Texas Tech on Feb. 19 at the College Baseball Showdown in Arlington, Texas. Arkansas' schedule release earlier this week listed Texas as the season-opening opponent, but the Razorbacks' games against the Longhorns and Red Raiders were swapped.

Arkansas is scheduled to play Texas on Feb. 20 and TCU on Feb. 21 at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers. All three games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Razorbacks are familiar with all three teams they will see in Arlington, having played each at least once since 2019.

Tickets for the College Baseball Showdown go on sale at 1 p.m. Thursday through the Rangers' website. Single-day tickets are $25 and a weekend pass is $50.

Attendance each day will be capped at between 14,000 and 15,000, according to the Rangers.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Pair of UAPB games postponed

Positive covid-19 tests within the Prairie View A&M women's basketball program have led to the postponement of two of the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff women's basketball team's upcoming games.

The Golden Lions announced first on Thursday that their Monday game with the Panthers was postponed due to covid-19. Later in the day, UAPB's meeting with Texas Southern -- scheduled for Saturday -- was postponed due to contact-tracing. Texas Southern faced Prairie View on Jan. 11.

The Golden Lions (2-9, 1-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) are scheduled to play next at Grambling State on Jan. 30. Make-up dates for both postponements have not yet been scheduled.

UAPB men's basketball will now tip-off with the Panthers at 6 p.m. on Monday.

UALR make-up with Texas State announced

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock women's basketball team has scheduled a single-game make-up with Texas State on the road at 6 p.m. Central on Feb. 2.

The Trojans postponed their weekend series with the Bobcats on Jan. 15-16 due to positive covid-19 tests within UALR's program that have kept the Trojans off the court since Jan. 2. The second game of the postponed series will not be rescheduled.

UALR (5-4, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) returns this weekend when it hosts Texas-Arlington at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, beginning with a 6:30 p.m. tip-off today.
