VA police: Officer struck by man, 64

Veterans Affairs Police Department officers arrested a White Hall man Friday morning and accused him of repeatedly striking an officer, according to an agency arrest report.

Police at the VA hospital on Fort Roots Drive in North Little Rock were called at 10:35 a.m. after Victor Zimmerman, 64, began shouting profanities, punching walls and threatening patients and staff members, the report said.

When officers attempted to move Zimmerman back into his hospital room, he used his forearm to repeatedly strike a lieutenant, according to the report.

Zimmerman was charged with battery, terroristic threatening and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Police chase, arrest suspect in break-in

Little Rock police arrested Izel Finley, 30, of Mabelvale early Saturday and accused him of breaking into a business, according to an arrest report.

At 12:20 a.m., officers reported finding the business's door open and seeing a man lurking nearby, the report said.

The man fled with officers in pursuit. He was arrested and was found with vehicle keys and other items stolen from the business, according to the report.

Finley was taken to the Pulaski County jail where he was being held without bail, charged with felony commercial burglary, felony theft of property and misdemeanor fleeing police.

Traffic stop leads to gun, drug counts

A traffic stop by North Little Rock police Friday afternoon led to the arrest of Bryan Smith, 35, on drug charges, according to an arrest report.

The driver initially fled in his vehicle from police, traveling through an alley near 800 W. 24th St., the report said. He threw two handguns from the vehicle before stopping near West 25th and Schaer streets at 3:38 p.m., the report said.

Police reported finding marijuana on his person.

Smith charged with possession of a firearm.
