James Willard Hickam, 73, of Wilmar, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born October 24, 1936. Willard spent 25 years service with the U. S. Postal System, retiring October 2, 1992 and was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Charlie and Doris Hickam and was preceded in death by one sister, Carlene Peebles. He was a faithful husband of 52 years, wonderful father, grandfather and "Uncle Willard" to many nieces, nephews and other family members. He was a skilled gardener, but his true love was hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Willard was one of the best story tellers that Arkansas has ever known. Willard was a innovative, creative builder that had many talents, especially when it came to hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Sue Eubanks Hickam of Wilmar; one son, Clark Hickam and wife, Sharon of Monticello; daughter, Stacey Belgard and husband, Jimmie of Deville, La.; three brothers, Floyd Hickam and Billy Hickam, both of Wilmar and Rev. Wilson Hickam of Biddeford, Maine; two sisters, Robbie Hawkins of Wilmar and Mary Bellafatto of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jordan, Hunter and Jake Hickam and Bailey and Colby Belgard. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel, with burial in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
