Gerard C. Sangster of Warren, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at home. He was born October 4, 1920 in Warren, Arkansas, a son of the late Ernest Sangster and Carmen Bidaut Sangster. He was a graduate of the Warren Public School System, University of Arkansas at Monticello and the LSU Graduate School of Banking. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Fisherman's Sunday School Class. He served as a captain in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he organized and commanded the Warren National Guard. He worked at Warren Bank and Trust Company for 44 years, serving in several positions from teller to president and director. He was an avid supporter of several charities and was a member of the Warren Lions Club. He served on several boards including the YMCA, Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Bankers Association. At various times, he was an avid fisherman, golfer, horseman, cattleman and runner. He loved God, his family and his country. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Sangster. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Moseley Sangster, of Warren; one daughter, Patti Sangster Bryant, and her husband, Dr. Donnie Bryant, of Warren; one son, Dr. Michael Sangster, and his wife, Julie, of Little Rock; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Sangster, and his wife, Betty, of Warren; 2 nieces and 2 nephews and his personal caregivers. Funeral services 10 a.m., Saturday, August 14, at Frazer's Chapel. Burial in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, August 13, at Frazer's.
