Kathryn Sue Rush

Kathryn Sue Rush, 51, of Hot Springs, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010, in the presence of family. She was born October 30, 1958, in Pine Bluff, a daughter of Carolyn Sue Morgan Rush and the late Marshall Neil Rush. Kathryn was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, where she graduated from Jefferson Prep. After high school, she attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Conway, where she received a degree in nursing. Kathryn dedicated her life to others. She was a key person in the development of Hospice at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and a teacher at Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock. A loving daughter, mother, sister and grandmother, her one purpose in life and the one thing she gained the most gratification in was taking care of others. Her nurturing spirit did not end with people, but extended to her volunteer efforts as a foster parent for the Pulaski County Humane Society. Kathryn's life was noble and her children, family and those who knew her will remember her as the one person you could always depend on. She may have left this world in body, but will forever remain in spirit. Kathryn is survived by her son, Marshall Anthony Shields of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; a daughter, Ashley Garner of White Hall; her mother, Carolyn Sue Morgan Rush of Pine Bluff; a brother, Marshall Morgan Rush of Pine Bluff; a sister, Stephany Rush Slagle of Hot Springs; and a grandson, Braxton Neil Garner of White Hall. She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Neil Rush, and a sister, Allison Rush. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2010 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Matt Norton officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Colin Slagle, Richard Slagle, Dereke Lunsford and Steven Hansen.
