Mercedes Roden

Mercedes Roden, 96, of Newport died Thursday, August 12, 2010. She was a member of Sandhill Church of Christ and preceded in death by her husband; O.R. Roden, infant son and son; Jimmy Dean (Buddy) Roden, parents; J.B. and Eunice (Cloud) Ragsdale. Mrs. Roden enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, making quilts, fishing and gardening. She is survived by one daughter; Betty Hampe of Newport, one brother; Gus Ragsdale of Newport, one sister; Bonnie Sauchuk of Michigan, two grandchildren; Butch Welch of Cabot and Rusty Welch of Little Rock, two great grandchildren; Monica Prince of Little Rock and Rodney Welch of Fresno, California, four great great grandchildren; Conner, Chase and Allie Prince of Little Rock and Rowen Welch of Fresno, California, two nephews; Ronnie James of Michigan and Rick Roden of Indiana. Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday.
