Franklin G. Fogleman

Franklin G. Fogleman, 86, third generation farmer and life-long resident of Marion, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at his home. Fogleman, a quiet, gentle man, was one of those rare individuals who led by example instead of words. He had a way of brightening the day with his sincere kindness for all and his quick sense of humor. Folgleman, his wife and friends could often be found dancing at any available location in the area. Fogleman was a graduate of both Marion High School and the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He returned to Marion, the town he loved, married Reed Caldwell in 1949 and farmed with his father and in later years with his sons and grandsons. Fogleman was a life long faithful member of the Marion United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Council, was a Sunday School teacher and for over 20 years was the Sunday School Superintendent. Fogleman, a World War II veteran, was founding member and director of both First Community Bank of Eastern Arkansas and Crittenden Gin Company. He served as both a Director and President of Crittenden County Farm Bureau and was chosen as the 1983 Crittenden County Farm Family of the Year. Fogleman is a Past President of the Marion Rotary Club and served for a number of years on the Crittenden County Democratic Central Committee. Proceeded in death by his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his three sons; Frank A. and wife Gail; Scott and wife Shireen and David and wife Jennifer, all of Marion. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Franklin A. Fogleman, Jr. and wife Kelly; Mary Catherine Fogleman; Lindley F. Abrams and husband Chris; Laura F. Rikard and husband Justin; William D. "Will" Jr. and Peyton H Fogleman; Reed K. and Michael E Fogleman and three great-grandchildren, Lillian G and F Cross Fogleman and Christopher A. Abrams. Fogleman will be best remembered by his family and friends as a Christian gentleman and one who lived his life as an example for all. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be sent to Marion United Methodist Church Building fund or to the charity of the giver's choice. Visitation will be Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis and services Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Marion United Methodist Church, 81 Military Rd in Marion, AR with interment following at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR
