Charles D. Campbell

Charles D. Campbell, 68, of Yellville, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Mountain Home. He was born June 30, 1942 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Millard and Irene (Costley) Campbell. He was an active member of the Optimist Club, the Jaycees, and the Rotary Club and participated in Christmas parades while he lived in the Jonesboro and Paragould area. He was always involved in community organizations wherever he resided including Turkey Trot in Yellville. He was in ROTC in college, later joined the U.S. Army Reserves, and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CW-4) in the Intelligence Unit. He moved to Yellville in 1987, coming here from Paragould, Arkansas. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Yellville where he was currently serving as chairman of the Personnel Committee and organized the summer groundskeeping teams. He was a retired banker and a private pilot. He married the former Karen Sue Kirksey on January 13, 1979. He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Yellville; two daughters: Tracy Kremer, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; and Dana Cole of De Queen, Arkansas; one son: Clay Campbell, of Pasadena, California; his parents, Millard and Irene Campbell of Tuckerman, Arkansas; and six grandchildren: Heather Lynne Kremer, Tyler Joseph Kremer; Weston Kelly Cole, Sara Kathryn Cole, Ethan Campbell Cole, and Maleah Elizabeth Cole. Visitation for Mr. Campbell will be Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Yellville with Bro. Rick Pyron officiating. Interment will follow in Layton Cemetery in Yellville. Pallbearers will be R.D. Jackson, Jim Barton, Shawn Beaver, Al Pearson, J.A. Ledbetter, and Phil Rook. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Ott, Nick Manos, Teddy Manos, Steve Johnson, Walt Williams, and Jerry Don Cunningham. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 W. Markham St., Little Rock, Ark. 72205, or charity of donor's choice.
