Peggy Ann Ables

Peggy Ann Ables of Humphrey made her Heavenly flight to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Bobby, her husband of 53 years, her children, and grandchildren were at her side. Peggy was born to Gerald DeWitt Brown and Stella Marie Wilson Brown on September 11, 1940. She married Bobby Ables April 30, 1957. She spent the first 23 years of marriage being a mother to five children, and the wife of a farmer. In 1980 at the death of her father, Gerald Brown, she took over his mail route, the Star Route. She ran this route for 22 years, from 1980 to 2002. Aside from being a wonderful wife and mother, she was a caring and loving person. There are many lives she has touched through her love and kindness. She had a smile for everyone she met and a soft spot in her heart for anyone in need. To many, she has been, as they called her, "their Guardian Angel". When she saw a need, she unselfishly gave, whether it was financially, food, or just a kind word or a loving hug. She was loved by many and will truly be missed. She was Pentecostal. She is survived by her husband Bobby Ray Ables; two sons, Gerald Ray Ables of Brandon, Mississippi, and Stephen Lee Ables and wife Sabrina of Humphrey; three daughters, Janet Raye Ables of Sherwood, Susan Elaine Harvill and husband John of Humphrey and Rebecca Ann Caskey and husband Randy of Humphrey; brother, Charles Caldwell of Jacksonville; step-brother, Charles Jackson of Searcy; step-sisters, Bonnie Hawethorn of Benton and Margie Ragland of Stuttgart; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald D. Brown and step-mother Ilene Brown; her mother, Stella Wilson Anthony and step-father Mark Anthony; sister, Maxine Rutherford; niece, Gayle Rutherford; and great-grandson, Aiden Barnes Her family would like to give special thanks for the love and care given by the Pine Bluff Hospice nurses, Crystal, Angelia, Erin and Kristen, and the assistants, Jewel, Brenda 1, Brenda 2, LePria and Keshia. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Wallace Simmons and Chaplain John Brown, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home with burial in Frazier Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ben Caskey, Josh Caskey, John Harvill Jr., Drew Harvill, Dustin Bayless, and Jason Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Tonya Barnes and Emma Caskey; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Barnes. Please go to www.turpinco.com to sign the online guestbook.
