Helen L. Glass, 85, Overland Park, Kansas passed away December 17, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Indian Heights United Methodist Church, 10211 Nall Ave., Overland Park, Kansas 66207. Memorial contributions are suggested to Indian Heights United Methodist Church or American Red Cross, 211 W. Armour Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri 64111. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.johnsoncountychapel.com. Helen was born October 7, 1925 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Cecil and Ava Gann. She was married to Thomas Glass in Fayetteville January 6, 1946. She was a volunteer for Red Cross in Kansas City and Chicago and also General Hospital in Kansas City. She was a member of Indian Heights United Methodist Church. Helen and Tom were hosts for People to People for 35 years for families from Norway and over 20 other countries. The hosting they did received them a medal from King Olav. They also traveled extensively to Norway many times where the families they hosted reciprocated and hosted them as well. As Helen taught the foreign families English, they picked up on her Arkansas accent. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Glass III; sister, Wanda Gann; and brother, Duane Gann. Survivors include her husband, Thomas; son Gary from San Francisco, Calif.; two nieces; and one nephew. Arrangements: D.W.
