Susan Derden

Susan Elizabeth Hughes (Susie) Derden went to be with her Lord on Dec. 23. Born in Winchester, Tenn., May 1, 1915, the family migrated to Arkansas in 1921 by train. She was preceded in death by husband Waldo Hugh Derden in 1966 and her father and mother, William N. and Dovie Lee Hall Hughes. Also brothers Albert, Jess, James, Gray, Herbert and R.C. Hughes. Sisters Essie Hughes and Vernia Mencer. She is survived by Carolyn (James) Ferguson, of Spartanburg, S.C., Francis (Sonny) (Marie) Derden, Sherrill, and Jerry (Peggy) Derden of Cabot, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Ceramics and china painting were her passion and she shared this with many friends and taught many others. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ at Coy and a member of Sherrill Civic Club. Services are planned at England Wilson Funeral Home with visitation for family and friends at 1 p.m. and services Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 2 and burial at Mulberry Cemetery with Jerry Copeland officiating. Her favorite charity is St. Jude's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
