Donald Weldon Briley, age 72, of North Little Rock went to be with God on Christmas Day, 2010. Don was born on September 1, 1938 to Roy Lee and Mary Etta Hayne Briley. Don attended North Little Rock High School and he spent four years in the United States Army. He worked for law enforcement and management. For the past 15 years he has courageously and valiantly battled chronic health problems resulting in numerous operations and hospitalizations, all without complaint. He showed tremendous inner and physical strength. Don's greatest accomplishment and pride was his family. He dearly loved his wife Ruby of 50 years and he adored his children and grandchildren. Don loved the holidays and he was a magnificent cook. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas as long as he was able, He prepared with love a feast for his family. His favorite day was Christmas and this year it was even more special because Don spent it in the arms of God. Don was not only loving and giving to his immediate family. He helped his wife's mother, the single parent of three young children, care for them. For this, they are forever grateful. Don will be greatly missed by his loving wife Ruby Poe Briley, and his beloved children, Karen Williams of Hampton, Donald Briley Jr. of Vilonia, Darrel, Denny and Doyle Briley of Little Rock; his grandchildren Michael Williams, Kathy Mathis, Tyler Briley, Rachel Briley and Crystal Collins; great-grandchildren, Cora and Julianne Williams, Briley and Taylor Mathis; and a very special niece, Jade Reynolds. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Alice House and Janet Mitchner; brother Bob Briley and numerous relatives and friends. We will all miss our husband, father, paw paw, brother, uncle and dear friend. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Committal service will be at 3:30 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery in Sheridan, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
