Joe Estes

Joe Estes, 75, passed away Dec. 26, 2010, in Lake City, Ark. Joe was born near Ash Flat, Ark., Dec. 13, 1935, to the late Clyde and Agnes Hall Estes. He graduated from Ash Flat High School in 1953. Joe received his BSA in 1956 from Arkansas State College at the age of 20. He received his MSA in 1966. Joe was past president of Craighead Teachers Association, Arkansas Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, and Arkansas Vocational Teachers Association. Joe married the former Ann Vinson of Jonesboro July 6, 1956. They were blessed with two sons, Mark and Mike. Joe and Ann enjoyed many travels across the USA, including trips on the AMTRAK to various places. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Agnes Hall Estes, his parents-in-law Fred and Ila Vinson, and his son Mark. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, his son Mike Estes and wife Bobbie of Jonesboro, grandsons, Noah and Josh Estes of Mosier, Ore., granddaughter, Natasha Hawkins and husband Jeremy, granddaughter, Haley Gammill, and grandson, Will Gammill, and two great-grandsons, Ayden Qualls and Rylan Hawkins all of Jonesboro. He leaves one brother, John Estes and wife Frances of Poughkeepsie. He also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He leaves two very special friends, Janet Jones of Manila, and Danny Blaylock of Jonesboro. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m., Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Ward, Homer Lenderman, Robin Ashley, B.J. Lenderman, Allen Davis, Bud Cannon, Danny Blaylock, Jack Holifield, and Robert Harrell.
