James David Reed

James David Reed, 84, died Wednesday, June 30 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. A longtime resident of Sweet Home, Ark. and recently of Greenbrier, Ark., he moved to Huntsville to be near his son. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII as a Cryptographer in Europe receiving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received a BA from Ouachita Baptist University in 1949 and MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a Southern Baptist Minister pastoringk churches in Missouri and Arkansas, and ministering as hospital chaplain. He was also a Social Worker for the state of Arkansas. He was predeceased by parents Fred and Lula Reed of Springdale, Ark., three brothers, two sisters, and wife Winnie Doss Brown to whom he was married for 60 years. He is survived by three brothers, a sister, two sons, and five grandchildren. His eldest son is David Doss Reed of Houghton, Mich., married to Beth Jones Reed with daughters Caroline, Kristen, and Michelle. His youngest son is James Brown Reed of Harvest, Ala., married to Lisa Lavender Reed with daughter Eva and son Jacob. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Sweet Home, AR following an 11 a.m., graveside service on Saturday, July 10.
