Dana Richards Davis

Dana Richard Davis, 69, died on July 7, 2010. Born April 17, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee as the oldest of two children to Edward H. Davis and Sara Rose Richards Davis, Dana was raised in Blytheville, Arkansas and attended high school in Jonesboro where he graduated in 1959. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he attended the University of Arkansas where he received a law degree. He was a Shriner and partner in the law firm of Skillman, Durrett & Davis in West Memphis, Arkansas until 1978, finishing his law career as a public defense attorney in Blytheville, Arkansas, and retiring to his lake house at Greers Ferry, Arkansas in 1999. Known for his honesty, forthrightness and generosity, Dana enjoyed listening to country music, water skiing and spending time with his Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Sam. He loved reading and an occasional drink of whisky. He was a private person, not seeking attention, but was a good brother, good friend and proud father. He was known by his friends for his full freezer of crappy and brim and his ability to fry fish "perfectly". Dana lived his life on his own terms and was highly respected by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan S. Davis and Janet Foley Davis of Dallas, Texas, sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Mitch Mitchell of Russellville, Arkansas, former wife of 13 years and mother of his son, Margaret H. Perritt of Little Rock, grandchildren, Andrew Noah Davis and Sydney Olivia Davis, nephews, Todd Mitchell and Patrick Mitchell, and aunt, Patrecia Moyers Goldy. At Dana's request there will be no memorial service. Instead, the family requests you give those you care about a hug and tell them you love them, always remembering, as Dana believed, the importance of family in your life.
