Glayds Rhea Thompson

Gladys Rhea Thompson, 89, of Stephens, Ark., passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010. she was born on Sept. 13, 1920, in Troy, Ark., she was preceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ford Thompson; her son, Byron Thompson; her father, Fred Oglesby; her mother and step-father, Bertha and Jim Carpenter; her brother, Denver Carpenter; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Cole and Wilma Martin, and one brother-in-law, Henry Thompson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janice and Steve Middlebrooks, of Troy, Ark.; four grandchildren, Jerry and Gloria Thompson of Toledo Bend, La., Lynn and Jim Salmon of Florida, Brittny and Mark Allman of Magnolia, Scott Harper of Edmond, Okla.; seven great-grandsons: Patrick and Matthew Salmon, Colt Thompson, Phillip, Chess and Peyton Allman, and Matt Loetscher; one sister-in-law, Peggy Carpenter, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She and her husband worked for Berry Petroleum Company for over 40 years and were active members of the Willisville and Stephens Church of Christ. Her first loves were the Lord and her family; she taught bible classes for over 35 years and had a special love for all children. She had a caring and sharing heart, as was shown throughout her life. She will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held Monday 10 a.m. at the Stephens Church of Christ with burial to follow in Liberty Cemetery at Troy.
