Joe Thomas Thurman, 75, of Keo, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2010. Joe was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Sylacauga, Ala. Joe was a graduate of Auburn University with a B.A. degree. He was a commercial artist and retired from owning Thurman Advertising Agency. He was an avid watercolor artist, a member of a Watercolor Association, staunch Republican and member of Keo Men's Breakfast Group and enjoyed hunting and fishing with family. He was a devoted member of Keo United Methodist Church. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert S. Thurman and Josielee Barganier Thurman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Cobb Thurman; one son, Greg Thurman and wife Nita of East End, Ark.; one daughter, Elizabeth Edwards and husband Max of Tupelo, Miss.; three grandchildren, Kailey and Seth Thurman of East End, Ark. and John Max Edwards of Oxford, Miss. He had a special relationship with his brother-in-law, Dr. Jock S. Cobb and wife Jo; nephew, Dr. Chris Cobb and wife Brandi and grand nephews Andrew, Hayden and Brandon Cobb; and many special friends and relations. The family will receive friends at the home, 165 Pecan Road, Keo, Ark. Joe will lie in state at Roller England Funeral Home until time of service. The family will have a private burial at Keo Cemetery followed by a celebration of Joe's life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20,2010 at the Keo United Methodist Church.
