John Michael Moore died peacefully Sunday afternoon, June 6, 2010, in his 52nd year. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in the sanctuary of University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Drive. Visitation: Family and friends will be received in the church's "Fellowship Hall" after the service. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to University Christian Church or to the Humane Society of North Texas, in his memory, is suggested. Born June 23, 1957, John was the son of James Thomas and Betty Barnes Moore. Raised in Vernon, he graduated from McGehee High School, McGehee, Ark. Following graduation from TCU in 1979, John began his career as a writer at the Houston Chronicle. He continued to write and direct public relations for various organizations. For the past several years he has focused his talents on grant writing and foundation relations, raising significant amounts of money for the Dallas Museum of Art, the Amon Carter Museum and most recently, UNT Health Science Center. John was a joy to all who knew him. He believed in making his work place fun and family and is still fast friends with all with whom he worked. He was a truly loving and steadfast friend who loved animals and the outdoors. His sense of humor always carried the day and it shall be sorely missed by all he leaves behind. In addition to his mother, Betty Murphy, John is survived by his sister, Beth Moore and her children, Molly and Will; brothers, Jim Moore and his son, Walker, and Richard Moore and his children, Veronica, Adrian, and Ian; beloved former sisters-in-law, Stacy Holbrook and Christine Combs-Moore; and all his beloved pets who are still looking for their sweet "Daddy."
