Dane Weese "Dano" Wilson Renowned local artist and potter, Dane "Dano" Weese Wilson, 70, chose to die at home with his four children and close friends by his side on June 21, 2010, on Taylor Corn Road, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was born on August 8, 1939, to Ruby A. Weese and John H. Wilson in Morningstar, Arkansas. The son of a Danish immigrant, he attended Rogers Public Schools and joined the U.S. Army in 1956, serving as a medical specialist with the 101st Airborne Division until his discharge in 1960. An avid dirt track fan, his wit and humor made him a favorite announcer at Beaver Lake Speedway, Fayetteville Speedway, and West Siloam Springs Speedway. Dano taught pottery at the University of Arkansas and to many individuals. His pottery was featured numerous times in Ceramics Monthly. He displayed his original pottery creations all over the U.S. and at many local craft shows. A mentor to many recovering alcoholics, he proudly held his 31 year token. A hug is extended to those who knew him as a friend from his children; Stephen Wilson and wife Sherry serving in Milano, Italy; Michael J. Wilson and wife Janice of Springdale; Angela Wilson Cue and husband Tom of Kiowa, Colorado, and Dana Betz of Gravette, Arkansas. He proudly proclaimed he was Grandfather to 14 children and great-grandfather to three children. Known for his "colorful" language, he had a never ending supply of dirty jokes. He said what he thought and meant what he said. At his request a Private Celebration of his life will be held. Per his wishes no memorials or flowers please. Just make a donation to your favorite cause.
