Billie Marie Nagel Blackerby

Billie Marie Nagel Blackerby passed away at her home in McGehee, Arkansas, October 20, 2010. She was born October 5, 1932 in Halley, Arkansas. Mrs. Blackerby was the daughter of the late Tom and Marie Alice (Clark) Nagel of Halley. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Frank Blackerby; her brothers, Thomas Duaue Nagel and Bobby Nagel. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of McGehee. Mrs. Blackerby graduated from McGhee High School in 1950 and began a career as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. After her marriage to Frank she became a homemaker and eventually retired from a career with Arkansas Department of Human Services. Mrs. Blackerby is survived by one sister, Lee Anna Nagel of St. Louis Missouri and one brother, Freddie Nagel of Halley, Arkansas. She is also survived by two daughters; Valerie Orbeck (Garrett) of Benton Arkansas and Tracie Roberts (Tim) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and one son Byron Blackerby of Grapevine, Arkansas. Mrs. Blackerby had five granddaughters, Parla Stamps (David) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Rachael Robitaille (Jeremy) of Murpheesboro Tennessee, Emily and Morgan Gilley of Benton, Arkansas and Anna Blackerby of Grapevine, Arkansas. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Arkansas Hospice for their care and support. Also memorials be made to Arkansas Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel on Friday October 22, 2010 with Rev. Donnie Blackerby officiating. Burial will be at Grapevine Cemetery at 4:00pm Friday.
