Ruth Pauline Powell

Ruth Pauline Powell, age 92, of Oppelo, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010. She was born September 23, 1917, in Lamar, Arkansas, a daughter of Earnest Thomas and Ellen Harris Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd T. Powell and a son Gary Harmon. She was a member of Oppelo Assembly of God. She worked for years in a shoe factory in Sikeston, Missouri, and after moving to Arkansas in 1958 she worked at home babysitting where she raised half of the kids in Oppelo at that time. Survivors include two sons, Benny Powell of Greenbrier, and Greg Powell of Corona, California; two daughters, Anne Steele and husband Tom of Greenbrier, and Paula Koontz and husband Benny of Morrilton; brother, W.H. Thomas of East St. Louis, Illinois, and a sister Jean Holland of Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010, at Oppelo Assembly of God with Rev. Buddy Wroten and Bro. John Martin officiating.
