Mary Virginia Brown

There was applause in Heaven for Mary Virginia Knowles Brown on April 6, 2011, as she met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born February 27, 1916, in Wilmar Arkansas, to Jesse and Mamie Senn Knowles. She was reared and educated in Possum Valley, graduating from Drew Central and later graduated from the Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College (The University of Arkansas at Monticello) with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mrs. Brown began her teaching career in Possum Valley in a one room setting. She finished her teaching career after 34 years with the White Hall School District, before retiring in 1981. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and a devoted Prayer Warrior. She also was a member of the Teachers Retirement Association and a charter member of the Herb and Flower Club of White Hall. Mrs. Brown enjoyed reading, working in the yard and encouraging people. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Emogene Harris, Marguerite Williams, Katie Willis and a brother, Pharris Knowles. Survivors include her daughter, Jessie Lynn Boast and her husband, Jerrel, of White Hall; grandchildren, Dr. Amy Boast Cahill and her husband, Doug, of White Hall, Holly Boast Robinson and her husband, Bryan, of White Hall; five great-grandchildren, Mary Virginia Robinson, Olivia Robinson, Emma, Ruth Ann and James Buckner; three step great-grandchildren, Collin, Carson and Sophie Cahill; a sister, Maxine Montgomery of Ashton, Maryland and two very special friends, Renee Grizzle and Cathy Walker. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Robinson's. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Brother Tom Hart and Brother Roy Craig officiating.
