James William Fore

Celebrated war veteran, doting father, and devoted husband Capt. James William Fore, 86, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He lived a rich and fulfilling life filled with adventure, triumphs and tragedy. James was an American legend in WWII, who was captured after his 28th mission and taken to one of Hitler's concentration camps, Buchenwald. He then went on to an aviation career that spanned for more than 44 years and has logged a stunning 36,000 flying hours as a distinguished pilot. Capt. Fore was born in Little Rock, Ark. on Jan. 26, 1925 to James Walter and M. Cecile Fore. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Khamla, of Colorado Springs; sons Roche (Brooke) Fore of Denver; JW Fore Jr., of Denver and daughter, Lana (Jeffrey) Warkocz, of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Charles Fore of Russellville and Gladys Ragland of Stuttgart; two nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held on April 13, 2011, 10 a.m. at Garden Ranch Baptist Church in Colorado Springs. Immediately following the service the family invites you to Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 2:30 p.m. for his funeral with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Honor Flight of Southern Colorado, 6547 N.
