Marshall Benjamin Garrett, 84 of Sherrill died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Stuttgart. He was born in Wabbaseka, Arkansas, March 29, 1927, to Lloyd G. and Virginia O'Neal Garrett. He went to school at Columbia Military Academy, Tennessee and Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas. He was a member of Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity, 32nd degree mason, member of the Sahara Center, Pine Bluff. He served as chairman of The Stockholders Advisory Committee of the Federal Land Bank of St. Louis, and served as Vice President of Federal Land Bank of Pine Bluff. He was selected as Jefferson CountyFarm family of the Year in 1968, and was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, Board member of Planters Gin Altheimer, Mayor of Wabbaseka for 15 years, Former Fire Chief Wabbaseka Volunteer Fire Department, Wabbaseka Ruritan Club, Altheimer Lions Club and member of the Jefferson County Soybean Association. He is survived by his wife, Betty M.Garrett, two sons, Glenn Mitchell Garrett, of Wabbaseka, Marshall Christopher Garrett of Jefferson, Texas, three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Garrett, Whitney Yarbough and Matt Garrett, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Reverend James Watson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
