Pauline Wallace Emanuel, 98, formerly of Sherwood, Arkansas, died peacefully on April 25, 2011, at her home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Pauline was born in Stone County, Arkansas, on October 26, 1912, to Richard Osmond Wallace and Leona Stephens Wallace. During the Great Depression, she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse, helped on the family farm and even picked cotton with her brothers, demonstrating a strong work ethic throughout her life. In 1941, she was swept off her feet by a dashing young John Emanuel of Fayette, Mississippi. Their loving marriage endured for 69 years, until his death in 2010, and produced three children, four grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. As a gifted homemaker, she dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was a committed Christian and a faithful member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ in Sherwood for many years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her husband, she is survived by her three children, daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Brown of Hot Springs; daughter, Linda Seaton of Sherwood; and son and daughter-in-law, John Emanuel Jr. and Sue Cassidy of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Chris Brown (Theresa) of Hot Springs; Jeff Brown (Ashley) of Atlanta, Ga.; Sara Howard (Paul) of Cabot; Ark., and Amy Garner (Randal) of El Dorado, Ark.; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Hazel White, of Tuscumbia, Ala., two sisters-in-law, Edna Wallace of Mtn. Home, Ark., and Delores Wallace of Mtn. View, Ark.; and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. on Friday at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 7724 Landers Rd, Sherwood, Ark. Funeral Services will be conducted by Minister Ed White of Tuscumbia, Ala. with interment to follow in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
