Mattie Sue Walsh

Mattie Sue McCall Walsh, 91, of Holly Springs passed away Aug. 4, 2011 at her home. Mattie, as she was known by her friends, was born, Oct. 23, 1919 in Ramsey, Ark. Mattie was a member of First Methodist Church Holly Springs. She was a wife, mother and a homemaker, as well as working as a seamstress and defense employee. She loved her flowers, birds and sewing for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Nellie Tabitha McCall; two sisters, Myrtice and Weita; two brothers, Alford and Don Jr.; and her husband of 56 years, J. T. "Rat" Walsh. She is survived by her three children, Carolyn Green and husband Johnny of Alexander, Ark., Troy Walsh and wife, Millie of Holly Springs, Ark., and Leslie Walsh of Texarkana, Texas. Additionally she has two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren of direct descent, plus five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren in her extended family. The family requests that all memorials be made in her name to the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Perpetual Care Trust Fund. Visitation will be Sunday Aug. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce will be in charge of arrangements. Rev. James D. Harris will officiate.
