Mary Dynell Logan

Mary Dynell Logan, 70, of Drasco died Monday at Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs. Born Mary Dynell Sartain on June 9, 1941, at Heber Springs to Thelma Foust Sartain and the late Thomas Sartain, she was a homemaker and the wife of Darrell L. Logan. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 25. A 1959 graduate of Wilburn High School, Miss Dynell Sartain married Darrell in 1961 and managed the home with steadfast, loving devotion so that Darrell, a former co-owner of Logan Oil Company Inc., could concentrate on business and farm activities. She put a distinctive touch on décor, clothing, and all things domestic, and she endeavored to be the biblically ordained "help mate" as a testimony of her Christian belief. To her children, Mrs. Logan was the model of a godly mother whose dedication — ever encouraging and loving - allowed them to focus on school and social lives. The family was centered around her strong maternal influence exhibited in such events as the birthday gatherings for children and grandchildren, holiday meals, and her constant worry during times of travel or storms. Mrs. Logan was active in many ways at her home church, Pleasant Ridge General Baptist, including serving as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, kitchen helper, and singer. Soft-spoken and godly, she carried herself with grace and humility, providing a calm influence during the ups and downs of life. She was a caretaker during sickness, a meteorologist during bad weather, a counselor during anxious times. She was preceded in death by her dad, Tom, in 1985. Mrs. Logan is survived by her husband, Darrell; one son, Brent Logan of Ida and his wife Callie Stone Logan; one daughter, Kristie Logan Irwin of Ida and her husband Matt; her mother, Thelma Foust Sartain; one brother, Roger Sartain of Ida; six grandchildren, Alisha Logan, Malcolm Logan, Ian Logan, Tyler Irwin, Kayla Laster and her husband Travis, and Braden Irwin; three great-grandchildren, Logan Walker, Elizabeth Walker, and Graysin Irwin; and friends and family too numerous to list. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at Pleasant Ridge General Baptist Church with Terry Mote and Jeff Thomas officiating. Graveside services will follow at Chastain Chapel Cemetery in Tumbling Shoals. Pallbearers will be Malcolm Logan, Ian Logan, Tyler Irwin, Braden Irwin, Travis Laster, Ronnie Sartain and Jerry Sartain.
