Kenneth Armistice Fudge

Kenneth Armistice Fudge was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Zion, Ark., and died August 19, 2011. He was the eldest of seven siblings born to James Ray and Clara Anne Fudge. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Ray and Thomas Guindell Fudge; sister, Mary Francis Wann; and wives, Helen Sullivan Fudge and Carolyn Fudge He attended school in Evening Shade and graduated from Cave City High School. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served in World War II as a first class carpenters' mate. After leaving the military, Kenneth returned to the state to attend the University of Arkansas and graduated with a degree in agronomy. He then taught agriculture in Melbourne in a GI bill-funded program for former military men. Kenneth also continued his own education and earned a master's degree in land and soil management from the University of Arkansas. He then was employed in Cherryville, Mo., as a farm extension agent. He later moved to Searcy to work as a federal land bank manager and was transferred to Hope, where he worked until his retirement. After the death of his first wife, Helen, Kenneth returned to work for the Federal Housing Administration. After his second retirement, he resided at Millwood Lake to enjoy his passion of fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Freemasons. He was a member and deacon of Millwood Baptist Church in Ashdown. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Teresa Lafferty of Little Rock; grandson, Chris Finley and wife Heidi of Little Rock; grandson, Kyle Finley of Boston; great-granddaughters, Ava, Kayla and Kendall Finley of Little Rock; loving wife, Mary Alice Fudge of Ashdown; stepdaughter, Mary Ann Chandler of Ashdown; stepsons, Larry and Mike Richardson of Dallas; brother, Robert Fudge of Searcy; sisters, Clara Nell Stone of Conway and Virginia Jones of Sherwood; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
