Dora Jane Hood Dupslaff

Dora Jane Hood Dupslaff passed away Nov. 30, 2011 at her home near St. Charles. She was born Sept. 21, 1928 in Hickory Ridge, Ark. to Clarence and Hycianth Hood. She grew up near Earle, Ark. and graduated from Earl High School. She was a 1950 graduate of Ouachita Baptist College (OBU) in Arkadelphia, Ark. After graduation, she moved to St. Charles and taught home economics. She was a charter member of St. Charles Baptist Church where she worked in various positions and taught the Ladies' Sunday School Class until her health prevented her from attending church. She married Herbert R. Dupslaff Jr. in August of 1951 and became a homemaker. She loved her church and her family. She always provided a loving home for her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Dupslaff of St. Charles, and her son, Jon Dupslaff of DeWitt, her sisters, Imogene (Stine) Hawley of Sherwood, Hycianth (Jerome) Jenkins of Leslie, Ginger (Gene) Young of Mountain Home, Barbara Hood Zapata (Dick) of Louisville, Ky., a brother, Ron (Judy) Hood of Earle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Bennett Dupslaff, her parents, and her brothers, C.R. Hood Sr. and Paul Hood of Earle and a sister, Harriet Bonds of Memphis. Visitation will be at Essex funeral Home in DeWitt from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Baptist Church with burial at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens.
