Heaven has gained another Angel. Billy H. Gibbs, 80, went to see Jesus November 30, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Billy was born February 28th, 1931 to Katherine Haley Gibbs and B. Doyle Gibbs in Pulaski County. He was a graduate of Scott High School, attended Ark. Tech in Russellville, Arkansas. Billy was a farmer and retired from Federal Crop Insurance as an adjuster. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the Field Artillery. On February 3rd, 1952 Billy married the love of his life and best friend, Ann Patterson Gibbs of England, Arkansas where he resided from 1955-2011. He was an active member of the England First United Methodist Church since 1955 where he served on the Board of Stewards as Trustee, Chairman of the Board, Finance, PRCC and Treasurer for many years. He also served 13 years on the England City Council. Billy was also a member of the Keo Men's Breakfast Club where he enjoyed attending for many years, solving the world's problems over coffee and having great fellowship with the boys. Billy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Ann Patterson Gibbs of England, Arkansas. He is also survived by and was a loving father to Edith Gibbs Friese and her husband Steven of Gillespie, Illinois. He leaves four grandchildren: Rachel Tracy, Patterson Friese, Joshua Friese and Olivia Friese all of Gillespie, Illinois and one great-grandchild: Madison Elaine Tracy, all of which were deeply loved and the apple of his eye. He is also survived by a sister: Annette Gibbs Haney of Maumelle, Arkansas. We are thankful for the services of Dr. Thomas R. Braswell, Dr. Ann Maners, Dr. Joseph Beck and his nurse Dale and Dr. Jeffrey Barber all of which have been a part of our lives for 22 years. We also want to thank all those who have cared for and loved Billy through the years. He was a true southern gentleman. The family will receive their friends at their home, 518 E. Purdon in England on Saturday afternoon and evening. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 4th, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, England, Arkansas at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery in England, Arkansas.
