Rev. Harold Wade Thompson, 85, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas was born January 17, 1926 in Hector, Arkansas and passed away on December 7, 2011. Rev. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Wade and Ella Hollabaugh Thompson, five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Merle Evelyn Thompson of Ft. Smith, daughter Beverly (Richard) Davis of Lucedale, MS; sons Ron Thompson (Julie) of Ft. Smith and Todd Thompson (Nancy) of Opelousas, La.; grandchildren Tammi (Ken) Moseley, David (Ashley) Davis, Nicole Thompson Stoneburg (John) and Bailey, Brook and Blythe Thompson; great-grandchildren, Avery, Peri and Riley Davis, Clayton Edward Moseley and Elliott Margaret-Kay Stoneburg. Rev. Thompson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Yeoman Third Class from 1944 to 1946. Rev. Thompson pastored Assembly of God churches for the majority of his life, having served as pastor of Forrest Park Assembly of God in Pine Bluff, Ark. for 17 years and at First Assembly of God in Hot Springs, Ark. for 17 years. He also served on the board of Teen Challenge of Arkansas for many years. Pallbearers are Kenneth Nalls, Ted Noble, Jim Bates, Kenneth Jester, Earl Wells, and Don Brown. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 p.m., Saturday at First Assembly of God in Hot Springs. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Teen Challenge of Arkansas, P.O. Box 8177, Hot Springs Village, Ark. 71910.
