Stanley R. Langley

Stanley R. Langley, 71, of Jonesboro, died Saturday in Jonesboro. Born in Mayflower, Stanley lived in Fayetteville before moving to Jonesboro in 1973. Stanley was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College (presently University of Central Arkansas) and earned a law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School in Fayetteville in 1972. . He is a partner in the Snellgrove Law Firm in Jonesboro. Stanley is a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. He is past chairman of the Arkansas State University Board of Trustees where he served from 1977-1983, and a past board member of the Jonesboro Craighead County Public Library. Stanley is a member of the American Bar Association, the Arkansas Bar Association and the Craighead County Bar Association where he served as president in 1981-82. The Arkansas Times Magazine listed Stanley among the best lawyers in Arkansas in 1998. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1963-1967 and attaining the rank of Captain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayburn and Eva Sevier Langley. The family wishes to extend deepest appreciation to the staffs of St. Bernards Medical Center, UAMS Hospital and the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for the special care given to Stanley. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Spence Langley of the home; one son, Michael Langley of Little Rock; two daughters, Laura Langley of Sarasota, Florida, and Katie Langley of Jonesboro; and step children: Jason Willett of Jonesboro and Felicia Willett of Memphis; one sister, Modean Potts of Paradise, California, and two granddaughters: Tapp Langley and Wesley Langley. A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. Burial will be private. Visitation will follow the memorial service in Hon Lounge at First United Methodist Church.
