Douglas Dorwan Vizzier

Douglas Dorwan Vizzier, 86, of Gillett died December 13, 2011. He was born August 16, 1925 in Gillett, was an agricultural pilot, served in the Air Force during World War II and was a member of Gillett United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Billie Jackson Vizzier; sons; Dorwan Gene Vizzier and wife Mary of Alexandria, La., Douglas Dean Vizzier and wife Dana of Pendleton; daughter: Carolyn Vizzier Mertens of Gillett; sister: Peggy Vizzier Trites of Gillett; grandchildren and spouses, Brooke and Brad Ray of Lavaca, Charles D. and Cecelia Aaron of Bauxite, Carrie A. Pennison of Monticello, Crista A. and Scott Shepherd of Tichnor, Jeremy D. and Brandy Vizzier of Stuttgart, Kirk Vizzier of Arlington, Va.; 14 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Vizzier (Modesto), daughter, Dorothy Vizzier Austin, brother, Charles Vizzier; and grandson, Brian Mertens. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, December 15th, at Gillett United Methodist Church with burial at Gillett Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home, DeWitt.
