Libby Jane Price Sharp, 67, of Maumelle, closed her final campaign on Wednesday, December, 14, 2011. She was born on March 28, 1944, in Little Rock to Elizabeth and Gordon Price. Libby was an active volunteer with the Pulaski County Republican Party and an integral part of many local and statewide campaigns, most recently the successful campaign of U.S. Sen. John Boozman. She was a proud member of The Broads, the Box B Bridge Bunch and an honorary member of the Loop Ladies. Libby was reunited in Heaven with her parents and husband, Jacob Sharp, Jr. She is survived by her only child, a son, James Mark Carter, Jr., (Anne) of Little Rock; two grandsons, William and Luke; two sisters, and three pets: Torky, Sluggo and J.G. Libby was raised in Little Rock but spent much of her childhood on the Price family farm in Arkansas City (Desha County), where she roamed the river bottoms with her first cousin, Arkansas House Speaker Robert Moore. She graduated from Lonoke High School and attended classes at Ole Miss for two years before returning to Little Rock, where she later took classes at UALR. Libby was an entrepreneur, starting with a toy shop she opened in the late 1960s on the Sangley Point U.S. Naval base in the Philippines; she was an extensive world traveler, having visited every continent except Africa and Antarctica; she was an avid reader, a Razorback, a Coke girl, a lover of Reese's and rare steaks. Most of all, she was a beloved mother, wife and friend. Those who called her friend couldn't have hoped for a stronger ally. She was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church and most recently had become a regular attendee of Windsong Church of Christ. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 19, at 2 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Karen Akin. A remembrance ceremony will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Maumelle Country Club. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. Memorials can be made to Pulaski County Republican Women and the Pulaski County Humane Society.
