Betty Smith Morley

Betty Smith Morley, 82, of West Memphis, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Morley was a graduate of Memphis State University. She taught English and Spanish at West Memphis High School from 1972 to 1986 she was an avid golfer and enjoyed bicycling and hiking. She and her husband Roy traveled the continent extensively. She was fun loving, sociable, outgoing, and generous and a dedicated member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roy William Morley Sr.; her parents, James R. Smith and Vivian McCain Smith; two brothers, Jack Smith and Bobby Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Vivian Qualls of Maumelle, Ark.; three sons, Roy William Morley Jr. of West Memphis, Ark., Jim Morley of Maumelle, Ark., Lee Morley of West Memphis, Ark.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in West Memphis with memorial services following, Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Memorial may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 209 Park Dr., West Memphis, Ark. 72301 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
