Modene James

Modene James, age 96, of Bryant passed away on Dec. 17, 2011 at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant. She was born Sept. 13, 1915 to Luther and Mary Jones in Delaware, Ark. After the family moved from Delaware to Keo she lived there until marrying and moving to Scott in 1942, where she lived until 2003. For the next eight years, she lived in Bryant at Fox Ridge Estate. Mrs. James was a member of Toltec Baptist Church for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer James; daughter, Joyce James Henthorne; brother, Dorman Jones; two sisters, Lorene Bunch and Mae Pebernot and a son-in-law, Derrel James. She is survived by her daughter, Margie James of Benton; three sisters, Robbie Anderson of Little Rock, Geneva Marshall of Little Rock and Neoma Russo of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren, Fred Henthorne of the Philippines, Clark Henthorne of Benton, Russell Henthorne (Carol) of Greenbrier, Julie James Kilduff (Jim) of New York, Bud James of Benton and Lee James (Lara) of Benton; six great-grandchildren, Madelyn James, Rhett James, Savannah Henthorne, Jackson Henthorne, Clark Henthorne and Caitlin Henthorne; three great-great-grandchildren and lots of nieces, nephews, her family at Fox Ridge and the ‘Angels' at Hospice. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at Hicks Cemetery. Bro. Kim Hammer will be officiating. There will be no visitation.
