William "Bill" Cansler

Mr. William "Bill" Cansler, 64, of Newport departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Harris Hospital in Newport. He was born on Aug. 25, 1947 in Jackson County, the son of Henry and Lorean (Sprouse) Cansler. Mr. Cansler married Miss. Linda Mann on Friday, Dec. 13, 1968 and has enjoyed 43 years together. He was an employee for H&J Land Company and was of the Assembly of God Faith. Mr. Cansler always looked forward going to the Cansler family reunion that is held on the Sunday before Labor Day every year. He enjoyed making wooden knives and guns for his grandson, going fishing and hunting, and most of all spending time with his family. Mr. Cansler was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Linda Cansler; one son, William Allen Cansler and wife Bettina of Bakersfield, Calif.; one daughter, Cindy Rena Baty of Newport; one brother, Jimmy Cansler and wife Betty of McCrory; two sisters, Velma Lee Willis of Hickory Ridge and Louise "Peanut" Skinner of Bradford; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Baty and Michael Andrew Baty both of Newport; several nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 2, Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Sandhill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at the funeral home from 6 until 8.
