Fred Earl Klaisner, 85, of Hot Springs Village went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2011. He was born on March 3, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of the late Fred and Bertha (Dunkel) Klaisner. He grew up in Kent, Ohio. Immediately following his graduation from high school on D-Day, he enlisted in the Army and served in the European theater. Upon returning from his service, he attended Kent State University. While earning his Bachelor's Degree in education, he played four years of basketball. He served as a team captain and his career rebounding record still ranks in the top 20 all time for the program. His professional career spanned 40 years as a teacher, counselor and administrator. For the past 15 years, Fred was a resident of Hot Springs Village where he was involved in many organizations, enjoyed golfing with countless friends, and served the Community of Joy congregation in various capacities. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Geraldine (Keller), his five children, Karen (Dusty) Schlueter, Kathy Klaisner, Fred D. Klaisner, Jeff (Tammy) Klaisner, and Kim (Mike) Nessler, as well as his eight grandchildren Rose, Kirstin, and Keller Schlueter, Molly, Jacob, and Abby Klaisner, and Chad and Rachel Nessler. A private family service will be held in Wisconsin on Christmas weekend. A Memorial Service will be held at Community of Joy in Hot Springs Village in early January with visitation prior to the service.
