Herschel W. Vaughan

Mr. Herschel W .Vaughan (PawPaw) as he was referred to by his grandchildren- passed away on December 26th, 2011 at his home, with his wife and family by his side. Herschel was born on April 15th 1922 in Linden, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Letha Vaughan, one brother Thurman Vaughan and wife Mart, as well as their daughter Beth Vaughan McBroom. Herschel was married to the love of his life for 66 years, Mrs. Jerry Vaughan. They lived in Nashville, Arkansas for 35 years where Herschel worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. After 30 years, Herschel retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and they moved to Texarkana where they were members of Highland Church of Christ. Herschel was a kind hearted, patient, God fearing man who loved with all of his heart. He was loved by many: two daughters, Donna Roark and her husband Rick, Sherry Edwards and her husband John- both of which are from Texarkana; nephew Dr. Ray Vaughan of Austin; grandchildren, Rod Roark and his wife Denise, Roman Roark and his wife Casey, Jenifer Miller and her husband Glen, Molly Edwards, and step grandchildren, Francesca Morgan and Angelique Sims; nine great-grandchildren and a number of other beloved relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011, with Bill Norton officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Texarkana, 803 Spruce St., Texarkana, Texas 75501, or to Highland Church of Christ, 1705 Highland Ave., Texarkana, Ark. 71854.
