Roy Lee Baker, Jr., 92, a resident of Harrison, died Monday, December 26, 2011, at Hospice of the Hills House. Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 30, at Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Jane Huffstetler officiating. Honorary pallbearers are the Harrison Noon Lions Club, the Koinonia Sunday School Class of First Presbyterian Church, and Phil Travis, a steadfast friend. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Open visitation will be held Thursday at Holt Memorial Chapel. He was born at Pryor, Oklahoma on October 15, 1919, a son of Roy Lee Baker, Sr. and Edna (Watkins) Baker. Roy graduated from Harrison High School. He received his LLB from the University of Arkansas School of Law, and also served as President of the Boone Co. Bar Association and was a member of the House of Delegates of the Arkansas Bar Association. He was a graduate of the LSU Graduate School of Banking, Harvard Graduate School of Business, and faculty member of SMU graduate School of Banking. He was a former President and member of the Board of Directors of the Security Bank and former President of the Arkansas Bankers Association. He had also served on the Arkansas Industrial Development Corporation, Board of Trustees of Arkansas Tech University and the Board of Directors of the U of A Alumni Association. A longtime member of the Harrison Noon Lions Club, he had held every club office and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was also a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church. Those preceding him in death were his wife, Doris (Cecil) Baker, son, Roy Lee Baker, III and his parents. Surviving are his daughter, Janet Cecil Baker of Little Rock, Ark.; his granddaughter, Leigh Jefferson, her husband, Lee, and son, Walker Grey Jefferson of Danville, Ky.; and his grandson, Toney Brasuell, his wife, Cris, and son, Vance Brasuell of North Little Rock, Ark.; his longtime friend and loving companion, Audna Stricklen of Harrison; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Bonsteel Gokenbach of Harrison and Catherine Jones of Rogers.
