Douglas M. Lefler

Douglas M. Lefler, 92, of Stuttgart died Thursday, December 29, 2011. He was born February 12, 1919, in Stuttgart and was he was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Stuttgart High School. As owner of Acme Electric Co., Doug was the epitome of a hard worker and a caring employer. He retired in 1988. Doug loved his community and showed that through his involvement in many organizations - SIDC, SHA, Chamber of Commerce and his membership in Rotary for over 40 years. An active member of First Baptist Church in which he was a deacon, a Sunday school teacher for 40 years and served on various committees for over 70 years. He was a shining example of a Christian man to all who knew him, always faithful to his God. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European area for 2½ years. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Virgie Lefler; his brother, James Lefler; and his three children, Larry Lefler and wife Charlotte of Stuttgart, Sharon and husband Jerry Coates of Little Rock and Lance Lefler and wife Lynn of Conway; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home. Private family burial will be Saturday morning and a memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church for family and friends.
