Melba Jean Hambrice

Melba Jean Hambrice, 85, of Waldo, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Hedden House of Wentworth Place in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born on September 23, 1926 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late Thomas Grady and Bessie Geneva (Ratcliff) Brown. She was a homemaker and member of Memorial Baptist Church in Waldo. Her goal in life was to be a good Christian woman. She enjoyed quilting with her friends, the Red Hat Ladies, and activities with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Harold Hambrice; and two brothers, Grady Brown, Jr. and Paul Brown. Melba is survived by her children, Harold Gene Hambrice and wife Pat Hambrice; Judith Hambrice Flaherty and husband Rollie Wheeler Flaherty, Milton Hambrice, and Ronny Hambrice and wife Cammie Ray Hambrice; ten grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a cousin, Margie "Snookie" Brown Makepeace; a special friend, Doll Humphries; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church in Waldo with Bro. James Lindsey and Bro. Mike Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
