Mildred Kerr

Private graveside services for Mildred King Kerr will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. Paul Cemetery near Ozan, Arkansas. She died Sunday, January 30 2011 in Nashville. Mrs. Kerr was born February 24, 1918, in Vilonia, Arkansas, the daughter of Dr. J.H. and Ida Reynolds Downs. She married H. Earl King in 1943 and the couple moved to Nashville where they operated for many years the King Truck and Tractor Company. His death occurred in 1985. Her marriage to George G. Kerr, a minister of the Little Rock Conference of the United Methodist Church, he preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Kerr was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nashville. She has held memberships in various community organizations including the Howard memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by a son, Hugh King, in 1952; three brothers, Dennis Downs, Paul Downs, and Dr. Seth Downs. Survivors include; a son, Dr. Joe King and wife Deborah of Nashville; a daughter, Martha Citty of Arkadelphia; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Rozelle Downs of Hardy; two nephews and two nieces. Other survivors are a step-son, George E. Kerr and wife Jody, and two step-grandchildren.
