Ruby F. West Fisher

Ruby F. West Fisher received complete healing from all her pain as she followed her husband of 64 years into the gates of heaven, on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at her home. She was born June 20, 1926, the fourth child of Otha and Mamie Sipes West of Austin. Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1944, she served the war effort at the Jacksonville Ordinance Plant. She married James M. Fisher on September 28, 1946 in the parsonage of Lonoke Baptist Church. An only child, daughter Jaynie Marie came along in 1957. In 64 years, they proved their vows were stronger than sickness, poorness, fear and anger. They were partners through each day's adventure. He never left her side until eight weeks ago when he left for heaven to get things ready for her arrival. She was a member of Lonoke Baptist Church, and the Volunteer Sunday School Class. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jaynie and James B. McClain Jr. of Lonoke, granddaughter, Mandilynn K. McClain of Beaumont, Texas; her sister, Norma Jean West-Hammett of Beebe, five sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews. The Service will be Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke, with Rev. Hammett Evans, her great-nephew, and Rev. Brent Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Special thanks to Arkansas Hospice for enabling mom to end her earthly days by living at her home. Mom received loving care by Jennifer, Michelle, and Porscha, who oversaw her care with respect. Extra thanks go out to volunteers who came to stay with momma while I had Dr. Appointments. Elaine Wolfe and Kay Baker were Hospice volunteers who loved momma and momma loved to have them stay in return.
